Team History
Kaos started in ’02 as a “local’s only” Santa Cruz based team. We wanted to compete at a high level, but retain a life (read…practice less, surf more). We sought a mix of older players and youngin’s – kept it simple, played hard, and had fun. This fired-up some of the basically retired local legends and Ex-Slugs livin’ in the Bay – the college guys said: “um...o.k.” We stole our name from the "legendary" ’80's SC Kaos squad, and agreed to put three years in…did well stickin’ to the formula for awhile, but Ultimate teams are dynamic…guys come and go…facing ‘O4 we found our pool of dedicated//skilled athletes dwindling…flexible thinking was in order (read – Hagar moved…we’re screwed if we don’t come up with something quick). We had always carried South Bay players on our roster anyway (they carried us?)…so tossin’ the “local” deal seemed prudent…go with good//dedicated//cool guys from wherever they hailed…yep, even if they had graduated from Stanford, Humboldt, or UCSB…I know, I know…but what are you gonna do? Open tryouts ensued…we were lucky to land great talent from a Valhalla team that seemed to have run its course, some new college boys from The Farm and SC, and some hungry coed guys that we were able to lure back to Open Ultimate with pictures of surfer chics in two-pieces…(they’re suckers for that stuff). Anyway… great group of guys…we are lucky and fortunate to have come together this year and look forward to competing at the Big Show and beyond.
