Team History
A famous proverb declares, "A chain is only as strong as its weakest link." So, needless to say, when captain Crawford Shippey read that, he had to make some cuts. Unfortunately, he unilaterally determined that the big flick and the fastest man in ultimate were weaknesses. Snip snip, they were gone. Tim Halt is now the cockiest player in the Central Region. And, worse than losing the speed of Joel Wooten, we also lost the most gullible treasurer in team history. For the first time in years, we now have to pay out of pocket what were once considered standard deductions from the team "kitty," such items as breakfast, cleats, and mortgage payments
To make up for losses, AJ Tiarsmith quickly seized the remaining funds from Wooten's accounts and put together a rather sizable sign-on bonus to court the triumphant return of John "the Kid" Hammond. Of course, when we found out the "Kid" had clearly advanced in age and wasn't exactly "in shape," eyebrows began to rise.
Thankfully, Josh Markette stepped up to "organize" the most talented, if not most naive, band of rookies ever assembled. Finally, things were starting to run smoothly again. The practice fields were being lined, the Gatorade was flowing, and the houses were getting cleaned on time.
Plato once said "You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation." And as Jay Hammond demonstrates, we can certainly talk. But, now it's time for Chain Lightning to play. |
