Team History:
Empire is simply the latest installment of New York Masters, who have been attending Nationals since the mid 90s as Squash, Yesss! (combo NY/Boston – only in ultimate, never in baseball!), Cigar, Pro-State and Slow Children. While many of the old guard have simply grown older, they continue to come out and teach the “kids” how to smoke ‘em, both on and off the field. There are several new faces this year and for most of them, it will be their first Nationals experience. We’re carrying a big squad in ‘03, but there are still many more who wanted to join us and couldn’t, like Sas Peters, Skip Kuhn, Matt Jefferson, Paul Ferrari, Wu Jinn Ho, Mike Winser, and Blake Baxter, to name a few.

We’re particularly proud to see the level of competition in Masters continue to rise, as we had a very competitive Regionals against formidable foes Red Tide and Ottawa, and the wire tells us this will be an extremely well-contested Nationals as well!

Like birds on our annual migration south, we look forward to sunny Sarasota. We also look forward to some spirited play, and now that KWA are back in the fold, we’re really looking forward to the shot-guns!
